I think it depends on how much you're into the fandom actually :P I probably wouldn't be as invested in Glee as I am now if it weren't for the fandom tbh.
For me, it's the songs I guess. I tend to overplay them on itunes every week & I usually love them a lot more after I've seen the episode. The erratic plot lines are what I ignore the most. And I suppose since I've never been big on shipping to begin with, the amount of times they've all dated each other probably doesn't bother me as much as it bothers most people =P
Shipping doesn't bother me I'm like everyone can have a ride on everyone idc.
I guess the songs aren't as good for me as they used to be I mean I didn't like any of this weeks enough to download them, actually I haven't downloaded a song since the premier...
Ah I see, because I loooove this week's songs ^_^ The only time I didn't enjoy as much as the others was last week with all the WSS songs- mostly because I haven't seen the original musical. Though I liked a couple of them a bit more after I saw the episode.
The thing that bothers me most about the ships is the repetition. Finn seems to only chase Rachel whenever she's not available & then he gets bored when he's actually with her. I didn't like how Season 2 basically ended on the same terms as Season 1 did.
...Someone mentioned to me the other day- why does each season have to equal the time span of one school year? Why can't season 3 end at like, Regionals or whatever & then the whole of season 4 could be dedicated to Nationals? Then everyone won't have to graduate right away & it won't be so damn rushed all the time!
I would maybe watch glee if they got a new batch of kids. MAYBE. MAYBE. because they have just ruined every character, imo. Cept Kurt who can do no wrong, and is therefore annoying lol.
But yeah, you could continue being involved in the fandom. IDK!
If it's brand new, it generally varies. Gave Stargate Universe 4 and 1/2 episodes before giving up on it. Terra Nova actually only took 1 and 1/2 episodes before I decided I couldn't watch any more.
If it's a show I'm already into - well, I can't think of any I have given up on.
Sorry to hear you're losing the desire to watch something, though :(
It depends on the show. Glee I forgive a lot more than I would on other shows. I gave up on Gilmore Girls after like 7 seasons because Lorelai cheated on Luke and refuse to even watch the episodes I love in syndication but I hate the direction Supernatural took 2 seasons ago and still watch it every week.
It's kind of a personal thing and probably depends on how invested you are in the show/character that is pissing you off.
I have the three episode rule for shows. And that can be when starting a show or a show that I've been a fan of for a long time. If it goes three episodes and can't hold my interest I stop watching.
And I want to punch Glee in it's baby maker. Just saying
Yes! I've been the same way for the last few episodes. At least tonight's episode had a few good moments, but I really cannot stand the Sue/Burt storyline. It's just way too over the top for me.
I don't have a number really--I've stuck with shows for way longer than I wanted to. It'll take me a couple episodes to quit a show IF I'm not really invested in any of the characters. But I can stick around for seasons if I love a character enough or think a particular actor brings more to the show than anyone else (including the writers and creator). So I feel your pain. It's so bad you want to leave but one things keeps you there--barely.
Same as queer_theory. If I watch it just because I enjoy it, I stop watching it basically right away when I stop enjoying it (did so with House MD and HIMYM)
Sadly, glee has too many roots in my life - I absolutely adore the cast, most of my fandom friends are from there. I've decided I won't be watching after S3 (what's the point without Chris and Lea?), but now it's a miracle if I last until the mid-season hiatus, and that'll be because I want to see Chord again.
But this show is the biggest slap to the face I've ever witnessed. It's as if I started reading Harry Potter, fell in love with it, and a year later it suddenly turned into Twilight.
I stop watching when I realize I've forgotten to d/l or go find an episode for a few weeks, and I don't have a burning desire to run and go watch it that day.

Date: 2011-11-16 02:27 am (UTC)Glee, I've been like major in the fandom since day 1 so it's hard for me to give it up even though the same writer that killed Buffy is killing it.
