MU rambling
Jan. 20th, 2012 05:12 amI haven't been around much, well I'm around but not really talkative lol.
Anyway SOPA and PIPA are all but dead at this point. If it did manage to pass I'm convinced that Obama will Veto it based on his comments on it.
As for MU shutdown. I'm guessing there is a lot more to it than we know, seeing as it wasn't JUST a shutdown but also consisted of massive arrests of the men in charge. The fact is, I'm guessing most of it's traffic was illegal, though they claim otherwise. And they didn't remove stuff just broke the links. The fact that people are going on about how they can't go back to torrents cause they don't want to be arrested well note the word arrested there.
Am I saying I never dl anything? No I have, usually British TV stuff I don't have access to here cause the regions system is idiotic in the internet savvy world, which I then buy when it becomes available in the US, would that save me from a Lawsuit? No, but they aren't after TV people as much because TV is murky waters since they are paid by advertisers. I believe if a massive TV sharing Lawsuit ever happened they couldn't argue that once it had aired it didn't become free use.(simplified comment and not completely accurate but the best way to say it without a giant explanation)
I don't DL movies, but I'm in the US so I get movies before other countries, but I also don't really have money to go to the movies anymore so I rarely see them until Netflix gets them or Amazon puts the Blu-ray up for $10 or less, but I still don't DL them, cause MASSIVELY illegal.(My own choice, I do understand those who do, I just wouldn't/don't personally) I also don't DL music, I buy it or listen through music services (again personal choice)
Wow this has gotten rambly, anyway my main thing was, I wouldn't be so up in arms about MU though I do understand it, but much like Napster I'm expecting this to result in massive changes in sharing backed by the MPAA. But I would worry about receiving your own personal lawsuit if you were a paid MU member and ever shared/downloaded illegal material(mainly movies), cause also much like Napster I expect MASSIVE personal lawsuits on piracy coming soon.
